Christmas Celebration: December 21, 2011

I enjoyed celebrating Christmas with my friends and teachers in school. It was so much fun participating in Christmas activities and class parties. We had 4 Christmas activities that we had to do in four different stations. The activities were so interesting. During the winter race activity, we had to race in the Gym in order to place all presents under the Christmas tree. As for the Musical color hunt activity, we went to the music room and listened to music songs. When the music stopped, we had to find the colored hidden cutouts.
Moreover, we played so many nice games in class with our teachers. Sometimes, we had to pin the features on the snow man. Other times, we had to race to fill in the stockings. Another game was about finding hidden Christmas items. There were so many other games as well. It was so exciting to hear children laughing and cheering while walking around in the hallways.
We also watched a very nice Christmas puppet show about Santa Claus and how he loses all the children’s gifts to find them at the end with the help of his friends and how he distributed them at Christmas night when baby Jesus was born.
Finally Santa Claus came to school and visited our classrooms. He gave us very nice gifts. It was such a nice Christmas Day at School.

St. Barbara Celebration: December 2, 2011

We have always celebrated St. Barbara, but we didn’t know what the whole story behind it was. This year we celebrated St. Barbara in a very special way at school. We all came to our classes in disguise. It was so much fun to see everybody in different, funny and weird costumes. We also watched a play about the life of St. Barbara and how she ran away and hid in a field of wheat because the soldiers of her father were chasing her. They wanted to take her back to the castle and imprison her for worshiping Jesus. St. Barbara stayed in disguise in the field of wheat and they could not find her. She then continued her journey of worshiping the son of God.   Now we know the whole story about wearing costumes and eating cooked wheat on this specific day.
At the end of the celebration, we had a costume parade where we all sang and danced with our teachers. It was such a great day.

Independence Day celebration: November 21 , 2011

Lining up just like the Lebanese Soldiers, we put our heads up high and started singing the National Anthem with pride. It was a very nice way to start our Independence Day celebration.  After that, we all had a military march while listening to different National songs. The preschool students looked so nice with the Lebanese crowns on their heads and the Lebanese flags on their chests.
Celebrating the Independence Day was a good occasion to get the students introduced to the traditional Lebanese costumes. Two teachers were dressed with the old traditional clothes and they visited all the classrooms to show the children the “Tarboush”, “Shirwel”, “Tartour”….etc.”
KG2 students were so excited to perform the traditional “Dabke” dance that they have been practicing. They looked so cute with their costumes and all the classes enjoyed watching them.
Finally, the day ended with a traditional Lebanese lunch for KG1 and KG2 classes. Students were so happy to bring the food items and share it with their friends at school.
It was a very nice Lebanese day at school.
