Our third MUN Conference this year ‘Live Diversity’ was a Middle School Conference whereby our young leaders, who are shaping tomorrow’s society, exercised their diplomacy through determined communication, active participation, and responsible actions.
As Chelle Thompson wisely says “ Human beings step outside of themselves to really grasp the needs and fears of others. We often project our own thoughts and beliefs upon strangers, and make judgments based on how we think they “should” be living their lives. If only we could experience a few moments inside the feelings of another person, the world would be a much more compassionate and benevolent place.”
Our students have chosen to take a stand in this year’s conference. The agenda touched upon the pillars of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, whose guiding principles include non-discrimination, adherence to the best of the child, the right to life, survival and development, and the right to participate.
SHS has planted the seeds, and if watered properly, will hopefully give rise to fruitful future leaders whose revelations will transcend the tests of time, surpass all barriers, and target the core of humanity.
Our future student-leaders were able to better understand the mechanisms of the decision-making processes in the international community. They came out from this conference with 3 Diplomacy Awards belonging to: Joseph Ashkar, Gaelle Monsef, and Stefanie Maroun.
Congratulations, yet again, Sagesse High School and well done students for an outstanding performance !
